Arsene Wenger has ended Arsenal‘s interest in David Luiz due to the Chelsea defender’s wage demands, reports say.
Luiz has been strongly linked with a January move after being involved in a bust-up with manager Antonio Conte after the 3-0 defeat to Roma in the Champions League. La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be keeping tabs on the Brazil international as his future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear, but Arsenal have also been mooted as potential suitors.
Danish youngster Andreas Christensen, Luiz’s replacement in the Chelsea first-team, has impressed in recent weeks, meaning Conte could be willing to sanction his departure during the January transfer window. But, according to the Daily Express, the Emirates will not be his next destination as Wenger has been put off by Luiz’s wage demands he is said to earn £120,000-a-week at Chelsea.
Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea are currently third in the top-flight, 16 points adrift of Manchester City, and welcome Leicester to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
