Arsenal has been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Bordeaux’s winger Malcom as north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have pulled out of the race.
Malcom joined Ligue 1 club Bordeaux two years ago but is already being linked with a high-profile move after scoring 18 goals in 78 appearances for the club. A number of Premier League sides have expressed interest in signing the 20-year-old, who is valued at around £45 million and revealed last week he was learning English.
According to reports, Tottenham has ended their interest in Malcom, deciding instead to pursue alternative targets during the January transfer window. It is claimed Spurs’ decision has handed Arsene Wenger a significant boost over a player who is being tipped to replace Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates. Sanchez has emerged as a target for Manchester City and Manchester United and is expected to leave Arsenal this month for around £25m.
