Mapinduzi Cup: URA tax Azam, Batambuze crowned in Singida win

Uganda Revenue Authority FC has enhanced their chances of qualifications to the knockout rounds after defeating Azam FC 1-0 at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

The Ugandan tax collectors came into the game on third place in group B with four points from a draw against Jamuhuri and a 1-0 win over Mwenge FC.

Nicholas Kagaba was the hero of the match with a 32nd minute strike.

The Tanzanian ice-cream makers ended the match with ten men after Ghanaian Enock Agei was given matching orders for foul play.

URA ascend to the top of the group with seven points as the Tanzanians drop a place down with one point less. 

In the other game that was played earlier, Uganda Cranes left back, Shafiq Batambuze, was named man of the match as his club Singida United thumped Mlandege FC 3-0. 

Danny Usengimana, Kenny Ally and Lubida Mundia scored for the Tanzanians. Singida maintain lead in the group with nine points from four matches. The result confirms Singida's progress to the knockout rounds.
