Harry Kane is reportedly expected to be out of commission until May.
English news outlet Daily Mirror has claimed the striker did not undergo a scan on Monday as a result of swelling around his injured ankle - a development that has made Tottenham medics suspect that the marksman may have sustained damage to his ligaments.
The report further claims that the team doctors have estimated that the Golden Boot winner may be out for around seven weeks due to the seriousness of the injury, which has proven troublesome to the Englishman in past seasons.
Should their preliminary diagnosis stand, then Kane will be ruled out of their upcoming FA Cup clash against Swansea on Saturday, as well as crucial fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester City in April.
