CHAN 2018: Cameroon record rare win as draws dominate

Zambia drew with South Africa in a 2-2 match played in London in a CHAN qualifier clash where the former had to fight hard to reclaim the point as the first round was dominated by a share of spoils.

Striker Martin Phiri of Power Dynamos rescued the travelling team before his Zanaco's Augustine Mulenga ensured former AFCON champions come home with a point. The host took the lead early through Gift Motupa as Mario Booysen added the second after the break. The decider match will be played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on August 19.

Cameroon 2-2 Mauritania

Cameroon was  fortunate to record a win over Sao Tome in a  2-0 encounter marking Rigoberts Song first win in charge. Goals from Frantz Pangop and Raymond Fosso in the 42? and 75th’  were the difference in the first leg third round of the qualifying match between the nations.

Another 2-2 encounter

 Mali were held by Mauritania to 2-2 draw in a dramatic packed clash at Sheihk Ould Badia Stadium in Noukchott The  Eagles opened scoring in the 2nd minute, a goal scored by Mandala Konte with the Mauritanians scoring almost immediately.

Samba Moussa restored the lead for the home team in 18th minutes before Dirra scored three minutes later through a well caculated shot.

Ghana too were held to a Mali like draw by Burkina Faso at the Stade du 4 Aout Stadium. Sadick Adams put the visitors ahead in 10th minute through a penalty with Mohammed Sylla restoring parity before the break.

Gideon Waja then restored Ghana’s lead in the 62nd minute but Stallions brought things to level through Illas Sawadogo.
